After a few hours of writing, erasing, and rewriting the text for this page, I looked up. Pinned on my bulletin board is a torn piece of a Chipotle takeout bag, unimportant except for the words printed on it.
“We will never have a perfect world, but it’s not romantic or naïve to work toward a better one.”
I haven’t been able to get Stephen Pinker’s words out of my head since I bought that burrito bowl two years ago. Ultimately, that’s my goal. Through hard work, enthusiasm, and relentless hope, I believe we can work toward a better world.
What defines a better world? For me, that means giving grace and accepting it from others. It means overcoming a difficult relationship or interaction with patient, careful communication. At the end of the day, it means gathering with the people you love to unwind, tell stories, and remember what motivates us.
